Ben Parker

I am a lover of everything to do with health and wellness and the human body. In college I took lots of nutrition courses, and anatomy and physiology and kinesiology. I get really geeky about the body. I have a background working in the physical rehabilitation world as well as for sports medicine Drs and rehab clinics in my career. I've had a few different careers along the way including elementary education, Coca-cola, personal trainer and before all of that I used to help run my families outdoor power equipment dealership back in VT. It is sometimes funny for my friends here in Texas to think about me in a tractor and outdoor power dealership but it is where I got my start in the world of business. Growing up in a successful family business is the best kind of real life education you can get.

In 2005 I came to Texas and have called Georgetown home ever since. I have three amazing kids and I am lucky to be a very involved dad. I enjoy being an active community member and this career gives me the flexible schedule to try and cram way too much into one person's schedule, as I'm sure most parents can relate to. I never thought growing up in VT that I would move to Texas but I have found myself here and I love it. Georgetown is an amazing community that I love to be a part of.

In the world of body work my passion is working with people on chronic pain, and posture as well as specific issues like sciatica, pinched nerves, lumbar issues, chronic headaches and many others. As I said before I get really geeky about the human body. Our muscles and skeletal system are like a living physics experiment. Our muscles and joints are like levers and pulleys. I enjoy being a detective in the body and helping my clients get to the root of their chronic aches and pains. I also love educating my clients and empowering them with insights and tools to help them with their bodies.  So many issues in the body can be relieved with proactive body work, massage and appropriate rehabilitative stretching and exercises. I think that good body work should also include recommendations for stretching and corrective exercises that will help the client move away from whatever chronic pain or discomfort they might have.

I also have spent a number of years working in the spa world as well and give one heck of a relaxing massage. At Balance Wellness try to provide an atmosphere that is calming and relaxing and by a massage therapist that can also deliver on the stress relief side of the equation too! We love to do both!

I graduated from Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic in Austin, Texas, and have been practicing massage since 2017. I value the way massage assists in a deeper awareness of one's own state of, and connection between, mind, body, and spirit.
I take both an intuitive and clinical approach to massage. My techniques aid in softening tension, managing pain, increasing range of motion, and overall relaxation.
I believe that patience and everyday mindfulness aid in the process of long-term healing. During therapeutic massage sessions with my clients I enjoy discussing with them what I am working on and ways they can stretch and and move to help correct patterns of pain and tension in their bodies.
I currently reside in Georgetown with my boyfriend and two cats, Salt and Pepper. Being outdoors to connect and spend time in nature is one of my absolute favorite things.

I have been in the massage and bodywork world for over 15 years. I love working with a variety of clients and different types of massage every day. My style of massage is best described as being focused work on specific issues the client needs work on.

I have training in advanced therapeutic modalities and medical massage. I like to tailor my massage sessions on addressing the bodies injuries or chronic tension and pain.  I work a lot with all types of shoulder and neck tension, low back and sciatica, injury rehab, prenatal massage, and overall therapeutic massage.
